Homeless is considered as such an adverse situation whereby a segment of global population is deprived of shelter or home and lives a struggle some life. One of the major reasons behind such an adverse condition of living is poverty. In this regard it may be stated that the salient feature contributing to the situation of living without a home are incapability of affording a home, joblessness, mental and physical impairment, domestic violence and addiction of drug and alcoholic drinks. Further, on close observation it is revealed that the majority of adult homeless individual are the victims of numerous health disorders like HIV, diabetes, hypertension, limb ulcers, respiratory malfunctioning and mental retardation.

The other negative effects on homeless individual are malnutrition, lack of hygiene, state of trauma and tendency to commit criminal offence. To address this social curse, many organizations have come forward which have undertaken various measures to provide shelter and primary health care services to such homeless population. From the findings of the research work executed by New York-New York (NY/NY) Supportive Housing Initiative have surfaced the fact, that there was a sharp decline of health related and mental disorders among the homeless mass, with the implementation of supportive housing for such group of people.

The concept of development of supportive housing has exerted a great positive impact on the mental and physical health condition of the homeless adults. As there requires a routine mediation for the health diseases by which the homeless adults are affected, supportive housing thereby offers a provision of regular medical follow ups for the homeless adults. To conclude with it may be effectively stated that the establishment of supportive housing for providing shelter to the homeless adult population have play a significant role in delivery of acute health care services for the betterment of mental and physical health condition of the homeless adults.
